PSU Calculator for PC Builds

Choose your CPU and GPU, budget power for your build, and find a suitable PSU capacity with product options to compare.

Plan power for your build

The same CPU/GPU library as the Bottleneck Checker, with stock power budgets you can override.

Switch on to itemize your normal components instead of including them in the 75 W base. Existing rows remain additional loads.

Extras beyond that allowance

Presets are conservative planning allowances per item, not exact specifications. RAM means one module; AIO fans are separate. Edit watts for your model.

Choose a CPU and GPU to calculate your power budget.

Power breakdown & what to check

Requirement = (CPU package budget + GPU board budget + rest of system + extras) × (1 + headroom). We then respect the larger of the catalog minimum and your exact card maker’s minimum. The selected product must have at least that much rated output.

Stock TDP is not maximum CPU draw. Older CPUs without a published maximum use an explicit planning allowance; override it to match BIOS power limits. Overclocking, unrestricted turbo, power excursions and unusual USB/add-in loads may need more allowance.

Check ATX/SFX case fit, EPS and PCIe connector count, the 12V-2x6 cable’s rating, regional input voltage and the specific PSU revision. Use cables approved for that exact PSU. Wattage alone does not establish electrical or physical compatibility.

How is the PSU estimate calculated?

We add your CPU, GPU, other components, and base system allowance, then multiply by your chosen headroom. The result is rounded up to the next listed PSU size and compared with any manufacturer minimum. It is a planning estimate, not a measurement or a guarantee of compatibility.

What else should I check before buying?

Use maximum package/turbo power for the CPU, rather than treating TDP as peak draw. Check the exact graphics card maker's PSU recommendation, transient loads, connectors, cable guidance, PSU quality, and case fit. PSU efficiency is not subtracted from its rated DC output.
