But where does it fall short if it can powerhouse through gaming just like the rest of the competition, and what exactly does it get right? Raw gaming performance aside, it still has plenty of greatness to it, probably some of the cleanest, loudest bass audio to ever come from tablet speakers, a very bright and vibrant 3K resolution display, and honestly, good enough camera quality if you want to use it for video calls or quick photos, but not nearly as good as another high-end brand mobile smartphone device. Then there are a few drawbacks to summarize for gamers: it is super expensive, and you’d expect something like an OLED display. While that's unfortunately missing, it's luckily carried by the fact that the screen is exceptionally bright, vibrant, and high-res. Ultimately, they get mostly everything right for gaming, and it is absolutely worth getting, as long as you know the key trade-offs we'll go over later in this article.

Daily Use & Performance
As a daily driver, it performs as well as expected. Gaming is flawless and generally a smooth, stutter-free experience. The size of the display made playing games like Fortnite on mobile much more enjoyable; while it didn't necessarily make me better at mobile FPS games, it certainly helped with that "scrunched up" hand feeling you get on a smartphone, making the experience far more pleasant. Watching content is also great thanks to the 3K resolution and vibrant colors, paired with loud speakers.
The biggest gaming disappointment is the lack of OLED. The Legion Tab Gen 5 is quite expensive, and it could have been even better with an AMOLED screen to provide those perfect blacks and even more vibrant colors from infinite contrast and a wider color gamut. Thankfully, they designed the device with probably one of the best IPS mobile experiences you can get.
There are some annoying things to note, however. The camera isn't that good; it’s pretty mediocre and is really only suitable for video calls and quick photos. While it isn't "bad" per say and notably looks better than most tablets, almost any modern smartphone seems to have better video and image processing. Then the foldable stand is honestly pretty finicky, your better off purchasing a case with a solid stand. Finally, it doesn't support fingerprint unlocking, only face recognition. We've gotten so used to fingerprint scanners over the years of daily unlocking our mobile devices, that it’s a minor headache every time you turn on this device. Which is likely to be a similar experience for you, until your used to getting into the Legion tablet.
Who Shouldn't Purchase The Legion Tab Gen 5?
From our point of view, for most people, this is a great tablet all around, especially for a kid who might want a spectacular birthday gift. There aren't too many people who will find anything to complain about here.
However, if you aren't strictly looking for a "gamer-first" device, there is definitely something else on the market for non-heavy gamers that can still provide a solid gaming experience. If you're not gaming daily, you might prefer a tablet that is far superior for watching content or handling the daily tasks you would usually do on a phone.
